Apparently, the Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Wanta Hush-Hush wedding in 2012 constitutes a media glare. However, when her parents tried to persuade her, she ran away with Saif and threatened to marry him in London. The reason why couples do not want the usual glitter and glamor of Bollywood weddings is to keep the “pure side” of their relationship “sacred” as they realize that there is no value to it.
In an interview with Vogue magazine in 2013, Kareena said, “If they don’t let us do it, we threaten to flee to London and get married. In the years of romance and being together, we realized that there was no value to anything. People want to know what we ate, what designer I wore, who we invited. Saif and I decided that we wanted to keep the pure side of our relationship holy. After officially registering the wedding we followed the protocol by going to the terrace and waving to the media, but they didn’t need to know much more. ”
What’s more, the actress was warned by Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in 2019 about marrying Saif at the height of her career. “The decision to get married is … it’s not a crime to be in love and I don’t do anything because nobody wants to work with me because I’m in love and I’m married. Everyone said your career was over and I said if it was, so be it. But I want to do it, I want to spend the rest of my life and I do it. I think that is the best decision I have made now, ”he said.
