HDFC Bank (HDFC Bank) has to wait a long time to issue a credit card to its customers. Last month, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) suspended issuance of new credit cards due to problems with HDFC Bank’s digital performance.
The bank’s report had the opposite effect on the audit report of the agency appointed by RBI. The effect is also visible in the 24 × 7 payment cycle. The RBI is now serious about complaints in internet banking and payment systems. In such a situation, HDFC Bank’s credit card re-issuance and digital banking 2.0 could be further delayed.
Last month, private sector bank HDFC suspended its forthcoming digital business activities and issuance of new credit cards from the RBI. The order was issued by the central bank after the HDFC data center’s operations were affected last month.
On December 2, 2020, the RBI issued a directive to HDFC Bank Limited on issues related to the bank’s Internet banking / mobile banking / payment banking, HDFC said in a stock exchange filing. The system was shut down on November 21, 2020, as the primary data center shut down.
In response to HDFC Bank, the RBI has instructed the bank to halt its upcoming digital business development activities and its new credit card customer base under its Program Digital 2.0 and other proposed IT applications. HDFC Bank said the board of directors of the bank has been asked to look into shortcomings and determine liability.
