Gunjan Saxena, released on Netflix on August 14, is in dispute these days. After the Indian Air Force protested about the film’s story and screenplay, Gunjan’s fellow officers have now begun to question it. If the statements of one such female officer, Flight Lieutenant (Sewa.) Srividya Rajan, are true, then the screenplay of Gunjan Saxena is made entirely on the basis of lies.
Srividya wrote in a lengthy post on Facebook that Gunjan Saxena during the Kargil war was not the only female officer or the first female officer to go on the mission. However, the makers blamed the twists on the story and the screenplay.
In this post, Srividya said that he and Gunjan were together during the training. The two were posted together in Udhampur in 1996, but the film showed Gunjan was the unit’s only female pilot. Srividya acknowledged in his post that he had to face the prejudices of some colleagues as the first female officer but there was no shortage of supporting officers.
Srividya also mistook the claw fight scene. They have done nothing to embarrass us, ”he wrote. The film depicts Gunjan Saxena as a female pilot, an initiative that goes into the Kargil operation, which is false. We camped together in Udhampur and when the Kargil war began, Srividya was the first female officer to be sent with a male officer.
Gunjan Saxena came to Srinagar with other crew members a few days after the operation. We have been actively involved in all operations including evacuation, supply shortage, communication issues. The heroic act of the heroine shown in the climax never happened. This is probably shown as cinematic freedom.
Srividya said that the filmmakers distorted Gunjan’s truth for publicity. You can read the full post of the IAF officer below-
