Pakistan openers Babur Assam and Fakhar Zaman got off to a good start as they lost the toss and opted to bat. The same was more dangerous. Saman added 72 runs for the first wicket with Assam. Adil Rashid, who struck out Saman for 36 off 22 balls, gave England their first breakthrough. Saman was caught by Tom Banton. Assam and Hafeez added 40 runs for the second wicket.
