According to the notice of the Women’s Commission, photographs of the victim were used in various demonstrations involving the Hathras gang rape victim. After this, the Commission has taken a strong step and issued a notice demanding their reply.

The notice states that several Twitter posts have revealed that the victim’s photograph was used during demonstrations on the Hathras incident. The Supreme Court has prohibited the identification of the rape victim. The commission has issued a notice asking them to remove the photographs published on social media. In addition, satisfactory explanation is also sought.

Significantly, on September 14 in a village of Hathras, four boys were allegedly gang-raped by a 19-year-old Dalit girl. The girl died on September 29 while undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. On September 30, the victim was cremated near her house in the dark of night. Her family alleges that the local police forced her to cremate her as soon as possible. However, local police officials say the last rites were performed according to the wishes of the family.

Supreme court asks for answer from UP government

At the same time, the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to give detailed information about the steps taken for the protection of witnesses related to the alleged gang rape of the Dalit girl in Hathras and the incident of her death in the hospital later. . The apex court gave this instruction during the hearing on a PIL. During the hearing, the Uttar Pradesh government expressed its desire to hand over the entire case to the CBI.
