In the third ODI between India and Australia, Team India defeated Australia by 13 runs. India batted first, thanks to the innings of Hardik Pandya (92 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (66 not out) in 50 overs. In reply, Australia captain Aaron Finch (75) and Maxwell (59) were all out for 289 in 49.3 overs. However, Australia won the three-match series 2–1. Steve Smith, who scored two centuries in the series, was named Man of the Match for his spectacular innings of Hardik Pandya.

Australia began chasing a target of 303, and in the sixth over of the innings, T Natarajan played his first match and showed the pavilion to Marnus Labuschen. After this, Steve Smith (7), who has played two centuries in the last two matches, could not do anything special in this match and Kardashian Shahrul Thakur was bowled by KL. Moises Henriques and Finch put Australia on top with 61 for the third wicket. Shardul broke the partnership by scoring Hendricks (22). Aaron Finch (75) caught Sharduul Dhawan after Henriques was dismissed. Glenn Maxwell batted brilliantly in the last over and struck a superb innings of 59 off 38 balls, but Bumrah bowled and destroyed all Australian hopes. For India, Shardul Thakur picked up three wickets for three and T Natarajan for the first match, Jaspreet Bumrah appeared again on form after two matches and took two wickets for 43 runs in his 9.3 overs.

After winning the toss, India captain Virat Kohli decided to bat first. India did not start well and Dhawan (16) was dismissed by Sean Abbott in the sixth over of the innings. Shubman Gill (33) joined the squad in place of Mayank Agarwal, but he failed to convert his innings. Captain Virat Kohli (63) held the edge, but Shreyas Iyer (19) and KL Rahul (5) returned to the pavilion. Kohli Josh Hazlewood took wickets. Subsequently, Hardik Pandya (92 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (66 not out) shared the unbroken 150-run partnership for the sixth wicket, reaching 300 in 50 overs. For Australia, Ashton Egger took two wickets for 44 runs in 10 overs and was the team’s most successful bowler. However, Australia won the ODI series after winning the first two ODIs.
