IND vs ENG: England add Craig Overton to Ben Ben Stokes for the Test series against India

England fast bowler Craig Overton has been named to replace Ben Stokes for the first two Tests of the five-match Test series against India starting August 4. Stokes recently announced that he would take an indefinite break from international cricket to improve mental health and spend time with his family. He has not played in the Test series against Team India since then. Overton played his last Test in 2019.

In the one-day series against Pakistan, Craig Overton was given a chance in the England squad and he took 4 wickets in 3 matches. Stokes’ omission from the Test series against India is a major setback for England. Ben Stokes was injured during the IPL, after which he had to stay away from cricket. The Star England all-rounder was seen playing in The Hundred Tournament, but he tried his hand at domestic cricket.

Craig Overton has played England 4 Tests and many ODIs so far. He debuted in Australia’s longest format against Australia during the Ashes series. He has taken 9 wickets in Tests and 4 wickets in ODIs. However, Overton has plenty of experience in first-class games. He has played 102 first-class matches so far in his career and this time he has taken 359 wickets. In domestic cricket, this England player also has a century and he has scored 2871 runs.
