IND vs. ENG: Umesh Yadav becomes Team India’s entry for selection in the third Test after passing the fitness test

Good news for the squad ahead of the third Test match between India and England at Motera Stadium. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav passed a fitness test at the Motera ground on February 21 and will be available for selection for the third Test match. Umesh was injured during a tour of Australia and was forced to return to India. The BCCI has announced on its Twitter handle about joining the Umesh team.

Umesh Yadav will be joined by Shirdul Thakur, who has been released to play the Vijay Hazare tournament. In the second Test of the series, India won by 317 runs against England. It was India’s biggest win in terms of runs against the English side, but England’s biggest defeat in Asia. The England batsmen looked completely helpless against the spin pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Akshar Patel and chased down the target of 482, scoring 164 in the second innings.

Most notably, Team India lost to England by 227 runs in the first Test of the series. The remaining two Tests of the series will be played at Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad. This is the first time that India and England will face off against each other by playing a day-night Test match with a pink ball.
