Shreyas Iyer, India’s limited-overs specialist, says it will take a long time for him to return to competitive cricket as he has not yet fully recovered from shoulder surgery. Iyer’s left shoulder was injured in an ODI against England in Pune earlier this year. This was followed by surgery in the UK. Iyer has recently started net practice, but it is understood that he is still a long way from achieving the required fitness for the tournament, which runs from July 22 to August 18.

“After discussions between the club, the BCCI and the players’ representatives, Iyer agreed to stay in India before returning to cricket,” the Lancashire County statement said.
