Minister Iswarappa – Indian News Live

Shimoga: Many societies have demanded that the backward classes in the state should be included in the ST category. Rural Development Minister KS Eshwarappa said many societies are also eligible to join the ST.

Speaking to mediapersons in Shimoga today, the minister said that all backward classes, who are eligible to join the ST, have the support of all those eligible to join the ST.

Already there is a cry of shepherd community, savannah society and jungle community joining the ST community in Northern Karnataka. A meeting was held with the leaders of the society and Swamiji to discuss the matter. All society leaders and Swamiji will meet in our house this Sunday to discuss this issue again. Swamiji of the shepherd society visited my house and said that you should take the lead in the struggle to bring the shepherd community to ST.

The struggle to add a shepherd society to the ST continues. I also have my full support for it. According to the current reservation no more than 50% of the reservation will be made. There is currently a 3% reservation for the Valmiki society. Their legitimate demand is to increase this 3% reservation to 7%. This is why the government is waiting for the Nagamohan Das report. “We will make a reservation after the report,” he said.

Shepherd society, poultry society, savita society and wildfire society must come to the ST with the reservation they have made in the OBC for any ST. The ST does not give any trouble to the society. The minister added that all these societies will not be affected by ST inclusion.
