Mumbai: AB de Villiers, who has earned a reputation as a 360-degree batsman in the IPL 2020, should return to international cricket, said Team India coach Ravishastri.
Ravi Shastri has said this after the explosive batting performance of Royal Challengers Bangalore against Bangalore in a match against Kolkata. De Villiers remained unbeaten on 73 off 33 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. R CB won the match by 82 runs.
Ravishastri, who responded on Twitter after the match, said the innings were unbelievable. You remember your batting even after waking up in the morning. You know what you need for international cricket. If you withdraw the retirement determination, it will suffice for your re-entry.
AB de Villiers shocked everyone by saying goodbye to international cricket in 2018. The 2019 World Cup tour was then scheduled to return, but it was not possible. After South Africa’s defeat in the World Cup, the Cricket Board was keen to consider De Villiers in the wake of the next T20 World Cup. But de Villiers made it clear that he would only retire if he was not fully fit. It is in this context that Ravi Shastri’s tweet is more significant.
Now, that the penny has dropped. What one saw last night was unreal. And the feeling is the same waking up. @ABdeVilliers17, the game in these trying times or otherwise needs you back in the international arena and out of retirement.
