Manatelangana / Hyderabad: A petition filed on Kaleswaram expansion works was heard in NGT on Thursday. NGT has sought the opinion of the Central Ministry of Water Energy on the Kaleswaram expansion works to this extent as the farmers of Vemulaghatu have filed a petition alleging that there are no environmental permits for the Kaleswaram expansion works in Ikram. The NGT decided to hold a hearing on the petition in November after being informed that the Department of Water Power would file a counterclaim within two weeks. The advocate said that the government had completed the Kaleswaram works at a record level, asking the petitioner’s counsel NGT to expedite the hearing of the petition filed on the Kaleswaram expansion works. Counsel for the petitioners said that the works were likely to be completed if further deadlines were given. The bench of Justice Adarsh Kumar Goyal agreed to expedite the hearing of the petitions in this regard. On the occasion, NGT said that all the petitions filed against Kaleswaram will be heard on the 7th of this month.
