After 550 days, 4G internet service has been restored in the whole of Jammu and Kashmir. With the removal of Article 370 on 5 August 2019, the first Internet across the state was banned, and the service was reinstated after a month of slowing down. Considering the difficulties children face in online education, the state administration has provided people with full-speed mobile internet. Former chief minister of the state Omar Abdullah applauded the decision and gave ‘4G Mubarakabad’ to the people.

Omar Abdullah said, “Happy 4G! 4G mobile data will be available across Jammu and Kashmir for the first time since August 2019. Slow but better than not.”

Jammu and Kashmir spokesman Rohit Kansal tweeted on Friday that “4G mobile internet service is being restored across Jammu and Kashmir”. According to sources, the service is likely to be restored by midnight on Friday. In August last year, the High Speed Mobile Internet Service was restored in two districts – Ghanderbal in Kashmir and Udhampur in Jammu. The government discontinued the Internet service on August 5, 2019 when it abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In early 2020, the 2G Internet service was restored.
