In the first round of the Australian Open men’s and women’s doubles, India’s Divij Sharan and Ankita Raina lost straight sets. Ankita and Romania’s Mihaila Buzarneku lost 3-6, 0-6 to wild card entrants Olivia Gadecki and Belinda Woolcock in an hour and 17 minutes and placed in the main draw of the Grand Slam.

India’s challenge also ended in men’s doubles, losing to Germany’s Yanik Hanfmann and Kevin Kay in the first round, 6-1, 6-4 against DeViz and Slovakia’s Igor Ele Lene. In the doubles event, Rohan Bopanna of India and Japan’s Ben McLachlan also lost in the first round, beating Korean wild card entries Ji Yung Nam and Min Qi Song 6-4, 7-6.
