Ravichandran Ashwin made a special record while playing for Surrey

India off-spinner Ravichandran made his debut for Surrey at the Ashwin County Championship. Ashwin achieved a big milestone in this game. Ashwin made this special record against Somerset, playing for Surrey at the County Championships. This was done in 2010 by Jeetan Patel. In preparation for the upcoming Test series against England, Ashwin decided to play in the County Championship.

Somerset captain James Hildreth won the toss and elected to bat first. After this, Ashwin got the first over from Surrey captain and England opener Rory Burns. Burns got the bowling from both ends. Ashwin gave up two runs in his first over. Ashwin was bowled out for 24 overs on the opening day until tea break. Ashwin’s batsmen struggled to score at their exact line-length.

He gave up 58 runs in 24 overs with five maidens in the opening two sessions and scored a brilliant performance. Ashwin’s only breakthrough at the start of the second session of the day came in the form of Tom Lamanby (42). Ashwin was dismissed in the 40th over. Prior to Surrey, Ashwin played for Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire. Ashnin will play for Surrey in this match. After this, he will join the India squad for a practice session to prepare for the series against England. The first Test of the five-match Test series between India and England will begin on August 4.
