Sanjeev Venkat was born on 28 September 1975 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He was raised in a family with strong ties to the entertainment industry, as his aunt was the late actress Manjula Vijayakumar. However, not much is known about his parents. Sanjeev completed his graduation from Loyola College in Chennai. Throughout his school and college days, he actively participated in extracurricular activities such as dancing and driving, which later became his hobbies.
Sanjeev started his acting career as a child artist in the 1989 Tamil film Ponmana Selvan, where he played the role of Hong Kong Annamalai’s son. He made his television debut in 2002 with the Sun TV serial Metti Oli, where he played the role of Ilango. In the same year, he also appeared in the Sun TV serial Nambikkai, playing the character of Sanjay.
