Mysore: Dussehra was officially launched on Thursday and the first event of Dasara, Gajapayana, is traditionally live.
The Abhimanyu-led Gazetteer has traditionally worshiped at the Veeranohassalli of Hunsur taluk in the district. Traditional worship was performed in the presence of District level officials including District Collector Rohini Sindhuri. After driving the Gajapayana to the Gajapayana district, the worship of the Gajadayam on the auspicious day was conducted.
Abhimanyu, Vikram, Gopi, Vijaya and Kaveri elephants were rewarded. The elephant paid tribute to the mother by the district administration. The Gazpade then made an entry to the Mysore Forest House through the Forest Department’s trucks. Elephants will enter the palace today, even as you came to Mysore.
Abhimanyu’s team is currently stationed at the Forest House of Ashokapuram in Mysore. A special worship service will be held at the Forest Hall today, and the Gazette of the Palace will receive a traditional reception at 12.18 noon. Public access to the event is also restricted, with District Commander ST Somashekhar making a floral arrangement and welcoming the Gazpadayan traditionally.
