Classical singer Pandit Jasraj died in America, President and PM Modi mourn

The great classical singer Pandit Jasraj passed away on Monday (August 17) in the US due to a heart attack. Pandit Jasraj has been in New Jersey since the lockdown due to Corona virus epidemic. He breathed his last on Monday morning. His daughter Durga Jasraj gave this information.

Durga said on the phone from Mumbai with language, “Bapu is no more. Apart from this, she could not speak anything. ”She is survived by Durga apart from wife Madhura and musician son Sharang Dev. Madhura is the daughter of well-known filmmaker V Shantaram.

Pandit Jasraj’s family said in a statement, “With great sadness we have to inform that Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji died of a heart attack at 5.15 am this morning at his residence in New Jersey, USA. Gone.”

In his more than eight-decade musical journey, Pandit Jasraj received accolades such as Padma Vibhushan (2000), Padma Bhushan (1990) and Padma Shri (1975). The International Astronomical Union (IAU) named ‘Minor Planet’ 2006 VP 32 (Number 300128) after Pandit Jasraj, which was discovered on 11 November 2006.

Pandit Jasraj, who celebrated his 90th birthday in January this year, had given the Sankatmochan Hanuman temple in Varanasi on Facebook on April 9 on Hanuman Jayanti.
