NEW DELHI: The Home Ministry has directed all non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the country to open an account by March 31, 2021 at the Delhi branch of the State Bank of India to accept foreign donations.

Under the FCRA (Foreign Donation Control Act), no NGOs can accept foreign donations through other bank accounts. The Home Ministry on Tuesday issued a guide on the process of opening an FCRA bank account.

The FCRA bank account should be opened in the address branch of SBI’s New Delhi Headquarters, (NDMB), 11 Parliament Marg New Delhi-110001. The government said this regulatory measure was being implemented to make transparent the acceptance of foreign donations by NGOs and prevent corruption. The Relationship Act was also amended.
