New players will enter the electric vehicle segment in the Indian market. Some new electric scooters will be launched in the market this year. From Ola to Hero MotoCorp, many giants are preparing to present their models in this category. Recently, Ola Electric has announced the launch of its first electric scooter in the Indian market.
Recently, Ola’s CEO Bhavesh Agarwal did a test drive of the scooter and shared important information about the scooter. On the other hand, Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest (by-sale) two-wheeler manufacturer, has teamed up with Taiwan-based battery exchange company Gogoro. In addition, Suzuki and Ather Energy will also introduce new models. So let’s learn about 5 new scooters to be launched in the country –
1) – Honda Benley E:
Honda launched its Benley E Electric Scooter Series for the first time in 2019. The scooter is now being tested by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Discussions on its launch have intensified. Honda is offering this electric scooter with two different motor options. In its Benley E I and I Pro, the company used a 2.8 kW capacity electric motor that produces 13 Nm of torque. The company claims that the scooter delivers a range of up to 87 km / h when moving at the same speed at 30 km / h. On the other hand, in the Benley E II and II Pro, the company used a 4.2 kW electric motor that produces 15 Nm of torque. This scooter offers a range of 43 km / h while moving at 60 km / h.
2) – Ola Electric Scooter:
Ola recently announced the launch of its first electric scooter in the Indian market. In May of last year, Ola Amsterdam-based electric scooter maker Etergo B.V. According to media reports, Ola will be using Etergo’s famous upscooter technology on its upcoming new scooter. The company has not yet shared details about the scooter. However, there are reports that a swapable battery pack can be used in Etergo AppScooter. It delivers driving range of up to 240 km on a single charge. If everything goes well, the company will launch it in July.
3) – Suzuki Bergman Electric:
Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki is also set to launch its first electric scooter in the Indian market. The company will be releasing an electric version of its famous scooter Bergman. This scooter was spotted during testing on several different occasions. While there has been no information on the scooter’s functionality, it is said that it will feature LED headlamps with advanced features, depending on the test model. The scooter could be launched in the market by early next year.
4) – Author Maxi-Scooter:
Ather Energy is a big name in the electric scooter segment. The company is now preparing to launch its first electric maxi scooter in the domestic market. Recently the company has also filed a patent. It is clear from the images of this patent that the company features attractive features such as a large windscreen, bold front apron and high seat. In this, the company can use the same battery pack currently found on the 450X.
5) – Hero Motocorp Electric Scooter:
Hero MotoCorp recently joined hands with Taiwan-based battery exchange network and electric vehicle manufacturer Gogoro, which has since intensified the company’s talk about launching electric vehicles. According to media reports, Hero MotoCorp is working on fixed battery power models and swapable battery models. In this project, they are taking the help of Taiwanese company Gogoro. As of now, no other information has been found about this scooter. In addition, it is reported that Hero MotoCorp may also introduce the electric version of its famous scooter Mastro.
