How to Get Shields in Marathon

Marathon has a very unique but equally terrifying environment, with UESC enemies and rival runners all looking to get your hard-earned loot. When you first encounter these enemies, you’ll need to manage your HP and your shields. Since Marathon is an extraction shooter, even something as simple as healing can be a bit tricky to navigate.

If you’re wondering how to get and recharge your shields while racing in the Marathon Server Slam, here’s what you need to know. You can recharge your shields by using certain consumables while racing on one of the Marathon maps. During the match, your shield will absorb damage from UESC enemies, rival runners, or environmental hazards. Also Read The Forge Codes.

How to Recharge Shields in Marathon

To rejoin the fight, you can find Shield Charges and Enhanced Shield Charges and use them to recharge your shields. Shield Charges are single-use consumables that gradually restore your shield’s power to full capacity. They take a few seconds to register properly, which can temporarily weaken you.

However, if you’re going for a higher threat, you’ll need Enhanced Shield Charges. These are more powerful versions of Shield Charges, providing greater shield power recovery and a temporary overshield depending on your Marathon Runner Shell. In addition to these two, Marathon also includes Depleted Shield Charges. While they can still restore your shield, the amount of recovery is almost negligible and Depleted Shield Charges should be your last resort.

How to Buy Shields in Marathon

If you’re having trouble dealing with Shield Charges while running a Marathon, you can always head to the Armory and buy some for Credits, one of Marathon’s two main currencies. Currently, a Shield Charge in the Armory costs 300 Credits, but this price may change with the full release of Marathon. In addition to Shield Charges, you can also buy Patch Kits in the Armory, which will allow you to stock up on both HP and Shield resources.

Where to Find Shields in Marathon

You can find Shield Charges in medical cabinets around the Marathon map mounted on the wall inside the UESC facility. These containers contain not only Shield Charges but also Patch Kits that allow you to restore your HP. In addition to the cabinets, you can always loot UESC enemies defeated in Marathon, who have a chance to drop Enhanced Shield Charges, rewarding you with each elimination.

You can also get more Shield Charges through Faction Contracts, which will regularly give you freebies once Marathon is fully released. Finally, there’s always the old-fashioned way to get more Shield Charges: destroying enemy runners and looting their stash.

How to Upgrade Shields in Marathon

Before running in Marathon, you can set your base Shield strength by equipping Implants. These are pieces of equipment that you slot into one of the Marathon Runner shells on the loadout screen. You can equip multiple levels of Shield Implants. Like Server Slam, players are having trouble finding implants to upgrade their shields. However, with the full release of Marathon, players can expect to see a ton of shield upgrades.

In addition to shield implants, other implants can help players maintain the integrity of their shields. These include the Finisher Siphon Implant, which speeds up your shield regeneration after finishing off an opposing runner.
