All Currencies in Marathon Explained, How to get all Currencies in Marathon?

Marathon is finally here, as Bungie introduces players to a brand new universe filled with dangerous UESC enemies and other racers trying to take down Tau Ceti IV. As with any extraction shooter, knowing how Marathon’s currency and overall economy works is an important part of the game. If you want to know everything about the in-game currency you can earn and spend to make the most of the Marathon server slam, this guide is for you.

How many currencies are there in Marathon?

The Marathon system features two currencies, designed to separate in-game progress from cosmetic appearances. The two primary currencies are Credits and Silk. Credits are a functional “soft” currency, while Silk is a premium currency used for high-end cosmetics and customization.

What is Silk in Marathon?

Silk is the premium hard currency in Marathon. While Credits are important for keeping your loadout up-to-date and fully stocked, Silk helps you see clearly while doing so. You can use Silk to unlock Battle Pass tiers after Marathon is fully released.

Silk exists outside of the game loop to prevent pay-to-win mechanics, meaning you can’t use Silk to buy Marathon weapons that are more powerful than what you can buy with credits.

How to Earn Silk Fast in Marathon?

Since Marathon is currently in open beta with a server slam, you can only earn a certain amount of Silk through party contracts. However, the Battle Pass for Marathon is not active on Server Slam, so Silk cannot be used even if you have overdone it.

When the game is fully released, you will be able to unlock more cosmetics like custom runner shells, weapon skins, and more. Additionally, players can recover some Silk through the Premium tier of the Battle Pass.

What are Credits in Marathon?

Credits are the standard currency of UESC in Marathon, serving as your rewards for daily raids and other missions. They are hard-earned currency, meaning you can’t buy them with real-world money. This currency is used for almost every functional interaction in the game hub, including purchasing weapons and useful items from the armory.

How to Earn Credits Fast in Marathon?

If your credit wallet is empty and can’t pay for your next extraction, you’ll need to optimize your loot runs. Here are some tips you can use to quickly generate credits: Prioritize high-value loot: The loot you get in Marathon is not created equal. You need to know which tech components provide the most value per slot so you don’t waste inventory space carrying junk.

Complete Faction Contracts: Faction Contracts give you specific objectives that award credits in exchange for completion. Prioritizing these items alongside your main attack will help you earn a large amount of credits after a successful extraction.
