This month is very special for electric scooter enthusiasts. Two big players will be launching their first electric scooters in the Indian market this month. On the one hand, Ola is gearing up for its scooter, while on the other hand Simple Energy is about to launch its first electric scooter. Most interesting is that both companies will be launching their scooters together on August 15th.

Bangalore-based start-up company Simple Energy has announced the launch of its new electric scooter Mark 2 (codename) on the domestic market on August 15. Simple Energy has revealed its plans for its plant and manufacturing capacity. The company has its factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, where the process of establishing a plant has already begun. Simple Energy claims that the plant is capable of shipping one million electric bikes in a year.

The company is said to be building the plant at 2 lakh square feet and is expected to begin operation by the end of this year. To promote the Make in India initiative, the plant will have about 1000 jobs available. Considering the growing demand for electric vehicles, Simple Energy has revealed that it will make an investment of Rs 350 crore over the next two years.

In the Mark 2, the company is using a 4.8 kWh capacity battery pack. According to media reports, this scooter offers a driving range of up to 240 km if charged at one time. Moreover, this scooter is also very good in terms of speed. The scooter can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

According to reports, this scooter can charge up to 80% in just 40 minutes with a regular home charger, but it takes about 1 hour and 5 minutes to fully charge. In addition, it can also offer a fast charging system, as this scooter’s battery can charge up to 50% in just 20 minutes. Experts believe that the company can offer this electric scooter at Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh.
