Tata Motors today announced the launch of its new electric compact sedan Tigor EV in the domestic market. This new electric car is based on the company’s Ziptron technology. The official booking for this car has been launched, for which customers have to pay a total of Rs 21,000. It can be booked through the official website and dealerships.
This is the second electric car offered by the company after the Nexon EV. Tigor Electric has been available to government offices and fleet operators so far, but the car has now been introduced to private customers. Currently, the company has only showcased this car, which will be released for sale on August 31st.
This new electric car is based on Tigor’s petrol facelift, which was introduced by the company last year. As for the design, this car resembles a petrol model. It gets a new glossy black panel instead of the traditional grille, which includes electric blue accents that highlight the entire setup. The Tigor EV gets blue highlights under the headlamps and 15-inch alloy wheels.
The cabin of this car is similar to the current Tigor, with a blue accent well used inside the car. This makes this car an electric attraction. Features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, 4 speakers and 4 tweeters, IRA connected car technology, multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, digital instrument cluster. And get even more. Speaking of safety features, the Tigor EV features dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera and seat belt reminder.
Powertrain and Charging:
The biggest update for the new Tigor EV can be found on the powertrain front, which is now equipped with the company’s Ziptron EV powertrain. This technology was first used at Nexon Electric. Its electric motor produces 75 hp of power and 170 Nm of peak torque. The company claims that the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 km / h in just 5.7 seconds.
The company used a 26kWh capacity lithium-ion battery in this car. Battery pack and electric motor IP67 rating is also given. With the new Ziptron technology, the Tigor EV now comes with fast charging. With a fast charger, the Tigor EV can charge 0 to 80 percent in just 60 minutes. Tata Motors comes with an 8 year / 1,60,000 km warranty with this car’s battery and motor.
However, the company has not announced any new Tata Tigor Electric prices. However, experts believe that this car can be offered from 13.99 lakhs to 16.85 lakhs. It can be around 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh more expensive than the standard petrol version Tigor with a starting price of Rs 7.81 lakh.
