Former Kerala Chief Minister M Sivashankar filed a bail application before the High Court on Wednesday seeking bail in the Kerala gold smuggling case. Shivshankar, in his petition, said, “As a responsible public servant, I have given maximum cooperation in the investigation of the crime.”
He said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had called him several times to deal with the statements of various accused and witnesses. Shivshankar said he had been questioned by various agencies for more than 90 hours in the past one month, but no one (investigating agency) had filed a report in court against him. In his petition, he said that he was completely worried that there would be a lot of pressure on the investigating agency because of the media inquiry.
