Mulayam Singh Yadav, who has a keen sense of politics, became the sarpanch of the village in 1949 and was elected to this post five times in a row. He was the block chief of Bhagyanagar from 1973 to 1988 and was then elected to the Legislative Council for the first time in 1990. He continued to be a member of the Legislative Council from the local body constituency till 2010. Grandson Gaurav Yadav said that recently he had returned home from a hospital in Kanpur with health benefits, but his health deteriorated again.
